“I was trying to complete and pass an Army Arduous Selection Course, having previously failed. Having trained my body extensively in order to prepare for the course, I hoped to also bolster my mental strength using Jo’s techniques. I chose Jo at my mum’s recommendation, who’d used Jo for general anxieties; we listened to one of her tapes in the car one day and I found it so relaxing and uplifting. Jo’s methods are really fantastic; she tells you all about how the brain works (which is good for the General Knowledge), and teaches some really powerful messages and techniques (which I still use every day) like “positive thoughts, positive actions, positive interactions”, mirroring, anchoring, etc. The most powerful technique we used was to prepare a reframe tape that talked me through the different phases of the selection course; what was really cool was that as I ticked each one off, I could imagine each one as it happened (successfully, I might add), until finally there was only one event left and I had all these positive visualisations to fall back on. The result was, I passed the course; in no small part due to Jo’s help, and her methods. I would also note that I PB’d on all my indicator runs (5k, 8k, 10k, 2-miler) throughout the training cycle before selection, each time aided by the methods that Jo taught me. I would thoroughly recommend Jo to anyone who wants to turbo-charge their sporting performance, but also to anyone who just wants to boost their mental wellbeing (where I think we could all use a tune up from time to time!).” Tom/em
